Grand Opening of the Patchogue River this Weekend!

The Patchogue Riverfront Committee invites everyone to come down to any one of our fine Riverfront establishments this weekend and celebrate the official opening of the Patchogue River Summer Season 2014 with two great events:

First, this Saturday, May 17, the Riverfront Committee, along with the Greater Patchogue Foundation's Cultural Heritage Committee, presents our Second Annual Reggae in May Festival. To kick things off, The Oar Steak & Seafood Grill, Harbor Crab Restaurant, Off Key Tikki & Dublin Deck Tiki Bar and Grill will be hosting five different Reggae bands between 1-6 PM. Each band will be performing at each location, so you can either take The Oar's Water Jitney to travel to each location and follow your favorite band, or pick your favorite Riverfront establishment and stay all day as each band travels to you. There will be great food and drink specials at each location as well.

Next, this Sunday, May 18, the Riverfront Committee will host the Annual Blessing of the Fleet. This year they have organized a "blessing" parade, with members of our local clergy set up on a barge where boats will parade by for their blessing, making for one great spectacle for all to come and enjoy. The Blessing is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.. Of course, there will be great parties all day long at all our Riverfront establishments, including great live entertainment, food and drinks. The Committee is also sponsoring a "Poker Run" with prizes. The Oar's Water Jitney will be available to get you to all the great locations. So whether you come by vessel or vehicle, it will be one awesome day for everyone to enjoy.
