Jay Scott Band at Shorefront Park

The Jay Scott Band returns for their annual show at Shorefront park, a free concert at 7:00 pm Saturday, August 10.

His website, Jayscottlive.com, describes his “unique voice and acoustic guitar sound [that] combine with the passionate delivery of his songs and cause people to stop and turn to the stage when they hear him for the first time.  His gritty, heartfelt vocals, along the lines of Joe Cocker or Bruce Springsteen, are backed by a groove-inspired band.”

He gave up the lucrative “cover band” circuit years ago and even with a crazy schedule has continued to write songs.  He released two CDs of original material on Huntington-based Paradiddle Records; a four song EP, “Life in a Hurry” recorded in 2010 at Suffolk Recording Studios and, “Homegrown” recorded “Live in the Lobby” in 2008 at the Patchogue Theatre by Bill Herman of Paradiddle. The goal of a full-length studio album has proved elusive due to time constraints but last fall he started working to get some new and old songs recorded with local musician and producer Chris P. Cauley in Cauley’s studio in East Patchogue. “I’ve been wanting to do a full studio album for as long as I can remember,” Scott said, “but it's a lot of time to get it all done so I am doing it one song at a time.”
