9/11 Profile: Charles Cole

Charles Cole, of Wantagh but originally from Medford, was one of the firefighters that responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Cole of brain cancer at the age of 49.

Cole graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School and served in both the Medford and North Patchogue Fire Departments before moving to the Wantagh Fire Department.

Cole also served in the Medford Ambulance Corp. and worked as a Nassau County police officer.

Cole's family believe that the many hours spent at the Ground Zero site may have contributed to the cause of his brain cancer and eventual death.

Cole left behind his wife Eva, daughter Meagan, 16, son Matthew, 13, three step-children Scott 20, Seth 19 and Karina 17, his parents, Marguerite and Charles Cole and a brother, Timothy.
