Update: Alive After Five Returns Thursday

Update: Festival is on for Thursday. Alive After Five will be on Main Street only, beer gardens will be available, says chamber executive director.

Update 7/11, 2:26 p.m.: Alive After Five is going to be happening as scheduled and is not going to be cancelled for inclement weather, says Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce executive director David Kennedy. Original story with festival information below:

Patchogue's Alive After Five festival returns this week to Main Street for 2013, on a new day of the week with a number of changes.

The festival will be on Thursday instead of Friday, but as in the past it will be on Main Street in Patchogue Village from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. The three other festival dates are July 25, August 8 and August 22. A Sept. 5 raindate is scheduled if needed.

Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce executive director David Kennedy has posted a Blog to Patch discussing the move to Thursday, citing that local public safety officials feel that with Patchogue's increased popularity on Friday that there was no way the festival could be allowed or approved on that day.

While possible modifications to beer gardens were discussed earlier this year, Kennedy told Patch in a phone call that there will be outdoor areas at the festival where beer will be served as there have been in the past.

Kennedy also said that due to the ongoing construction of New Village Patchogue at the Four Corners intersection, the festival will not have anything set up in the Main Street and North Ocean Avenue intersection. There will also not be anything set up along North Ocean Avenue nor South Ocean Avenue. Attendees will be able to walk through the intersection to move between the East Main Street and West Main Street sides of the festival, and the intersection will be closed off to vehicle traffic.

A total of six stages featuring performances by bands as well as family events are being stationed. According to Alive After Five's website, Thursday's event will have a music and entertainment lineup consisting of Tumi Arts on Stage 1, a Fashion Show featuring local clothing on Stage 2, High Def on Stage 3, Erin Chase Acoustic on Stage 4 and Milagro on Stage 5.
