Update: Mascot Dock Closes For Season

Reconstruction needed from storm damages before dock can be re-opened.

Patchogue's Mascot Dock will remain closed for the rest of the season following heavy damanges from Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday.

According to Maria Hendrickson, Patchogue Village's director of parks and recreation, the dock located at the end of South Ocean Avenue will be closed for at least until Oct. 31.

Boat owners who use the slips at the dock will be personally notified soon and will be assisted in finding alternate accomodations if possible.

Hendrickson said owners will be imbursed their Sept. and Oct. fees. She also said that Patchogue Village has requested support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Approval from FEMA is currently pending.
