Message In Bottle Found In Patchogue Amongst Sandy Debris

Note was written by 10-year-old girl who passed away three years ago at age 18.

A message in a bottle written 12 years ago from a 10-year-old girl named Sidonie Fery was found in Patchogue amid debris from Superstorm Sandy.

According to Associated Press reports on NY Daily News and Huffington Post, Fery passed away in 2010 at age 18 after falling from a cliff in Switzerland. The message written by Fery was brought to her mother, Mimi Fery.

"I was just sobbing when I heard they had found it," Mimi Fery said to the Associated Press regarding workers in Patchogue Village who found the bottle and called her. "These are very, very kind people."

Mimi Fery will be returning to Patchogue Village this weekend and attend a ceremony where a small plaque will be dedicated as a remembrance to her daughter, says the report.

The message inside the bottle was a quote from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," which was Sidonie Fery's favorite film.

"Be excellent to yourself, dude," Mimi Fery said in the report quoting the message. The message also included her New York City phone number.

Patchogue parks department employee Brian Waldron says in the report that one of the temporary workers he was working with found the bottle, and that he called the number on the message to arrange the pickup.
