Patchogue Garden Club presents ‘Home for the Holiday’

The Club recently led a tour of six of Patchogue Village's homes decorated for Christmas.

The Patchogue Garden Club hosted its third Christmas house tour dubbed "Home for the Holidays" on Sunday Dec. 12. Despite the inclement weather, more than 200 people took the opportunity to look inside six homes situated in Patchogue Village that were decorated for the holiday season.

Ticket holders viewed the beautifully decorated households, which were built in the late 1800s or early 1900s, and barely renovated throughout the years. The homes on the tour were chosen to reflect the unique diversity of architectural and decorating styles within the area. Each participating residence boasted historic features and details that are unique to the waterfront community.

Mary Ann Tchinnis, organizer of the tour, reflected, "Four years ago I realized that all of the other towns surrounding [Patchogue] have house tours, and I heard so many good things about them. I felt that Patchogue needed a boost. Being in the Garden Club we are very interested in beautification. We have a lot of beautiful homes in Patchogue, and I wanted others to realize that."

Many of the homeowners were on site to answer questions or provide visitors with additional details about their residence. Tickets were sold at various locations in Patchogue and Bayport-Blue Point for twenty dollars per person.
