Father Tom Pers of St. Francis deSales Parish and Reverend Ernesto Sanchez of the United Methodist Church travelled along the Patchogue and Swan rivers last weekend to bless boaters.

As a precaution to a safe boating season, boat owners preparing their vessels for the summer were asked if they would like to receive a blessing. Dozens of boaters said yes and were granted a quick prayer.

An annual event, Captain Frank Mills from the and George Hoag from the , invited the clergymen to conduct this year's blessings.
