Squirrel Causes Electrical Outage in Patchogue

I’m sure that many of you have heard the loud explosion this morning in Patchogue, near the Maple Tree Apartments. I heard the explosion and all of the electrical power in the neighborhood suddenly went out. I did not actually see what happened but Josiah T. Cornplanter, a long time Patchogue resident, just happened to be driving down Maple Avenue at the time of the explosion. Josiah told me that it was a local Squirrel that caused the explosion. Captain Cornplanter figured that the squirrel had climbed the wrong tree! So… the squirrel  climbed the telephone tree thinking that it was a Maple tree! Josiah told me that the squirrel was turned into a cinder when he came in contact with the 7,000 volt power line. The electrical service was returned to Maple Avenue and Northridge Street at about 11AM.
