Visions For Vacancies: Pura Vida Burrito Company

In this series, readers can discuss what they would like to see spring up from vacant locations in Patchogue and Medford.

In “Visions for Vacancies,” Patchogue Patch will feature vacant storefronts and seek input from readers as to the type of business they would like to see fill the empty location.

The Pura Vida Burrito Company's sign, decorations and interior are all still intact, but its 54 W Main St. Patchogue location has not been in business for a couple years now.

The location served a variety of burritos and soup, and its primary competition was MuChaChos Mexican Grill (now the location of ). Photos and information about the restaurant can still be found on their Facebook and Yelp pages.

What would you like to see come to the location? A new burrito shop? A new type of fast-food restaurant? Or perhaps something different altogether?

Sound off in the comments.

Patchogue needs more healthy food choices...besides the usual salads. My friends on the North Shore love Tiger Lily in Port Jeff, I would like to see something similar here in the Village.

We love our diners around here. Peter's and George's are always busy and have waiting lines on the weekend. An old fashioned luncheonette with a NICE menu, some traditional selections and a few upscale choices, presented in an attractive fashion would be nice.

Some food place where you don't have to take out a second mortgage or speak a different language.

I always thought that a Jamba Juice would do very well in Downtown Patchogue. Currently the closest shop that has that same business model is in the Gateway Shopping Center.

dissolve LIPA and give the lines back to Nationalgrid as one company back like when it was LILCO.Read More LIPA = what happens when government gets involved in private business
Lipa Oversight June 12, 2013 at 07:15 pm
The proposed structure will have zero enforceable oversight by the PSC, Comptroller or AttorneyRead More General, Let alone the fact that close to 200 pair of eyes through lipa will no longer be scrutinizing what the sub contractor does, pseg. And on top of all that there is a built in profit layer of 10%, management fees, management bonuses and off island shareholder accountability....That being said and knowing that privatization is not financially feasible. The only workable solution is full Municipalization like 2000 other utilities in the country who have some of the lowest rates and highest customer satisfaction....all the governor is proposing is kicking the can down the street and out of sight regardless of cost to the ratepayer....we can not afford another cuomo mistake like his dad with Lilco....
