Limited Train Service Along LIRR

Delays continue Tuesday morning and evening on LIRR.

UPDATE: To facilitate the Tuesday morning commute, the LIRR announced that 33 trains were cancelled system-wide. Commuters taking the Montauk branch from Patchogue should expect delays. Tuesday evening, commuters leaving Penn Station for Patchogue will be able to connect to those trains through Babylon. Updated information can be found on the MTA's Tuesday advisory page.

Delays in train service are in effect for all LIRR branches- except the Port Washington line - since late Monday morning. Severe delays are expected to continue Tuesday morning and evening.

According to Mike Charles of the LIRR press office, the railroad is coming up with an "alternative service plan."

Monday evening, the LIRR updated their service advisory announcing limited service for the evening rush hour. Montauk  branch customers should board a Babylon train at Penn Station to connect to trains heading to Patchogue, Speonk and Montauk. Babylon trains will not be stopping at Atlantic Terminal, and trains will make all local stops.

The interruption in service was caused by a fire at approximately 11 a.m. in the LIRR's switching tower on the east side of Jamaica. The Port Washington line was not affected because it does not travel through Jamaica.
