Bellport Man Killed in E. Patchogue Crash

Driver of the car, an East Patchogue man, also treated for serious injuries, police said.

A Bellport man was killed and an East Patchogue man was seriously injured in a crash that took place early Saturday morning.

According to police, Jasheem Trent was driving a 2006 Infiniti westbound on Montauk Highway when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line, left the roadway and overturned. The crash took place just after 3 a.m.

Trent’s passenger, Willie Davis, 24, of Bellport was pronounced dead at the scene. Trent, 21, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. According to police, the vehicle was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed and initial reports indicated that neither Trent nor Davis was wearing a seatbelt.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fifth Squad Detectives at 854-8552.
