East Patchogue Man Dies in Hospital Following Crash

An East Patchogue man hit by a car on Montauk Highway last week has died of his injuries, Suffolk Police confirmed Friday.

Guevara Diomedes, 59, was struck by a 2004 Suzuki after he "walked into the roadway" near Lenox Avenue in East Patchogue shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 16. 

Diomedes was admitted to Stony Brook University Medical Center and listed in critical condition after the crash. He died on Tuesday.

The driver of the Suzuki, 28-year-old Joseph Matthews, of East Patchogue, was not injured in the crash and has not been charged with any crime, police said.
