High Tides Flood Patchogue Streets

Flooding Friday along the shoreline reaches around a foot of water in some places.

The high tide brought light flooding onto the streets of Patchogue along the Great South Bay shorefront Friday evening.

Water levels were as high as about a foot on Brightwood Street near the restaurant, and as low as an inch or two at the end of South Ocean Avenue near .

An employee who answered the phone at On The Waterfront said that even though the restaurant had water around it, the interior was fine and the restaurant planned to re-open when low tide comes.

Water did not reach any residences on South Ocean Avenue, Cedar Avenue or Brightwood Street at 5 p.m.

Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri, who was driving on Brightwood Street Friday evening, said that this was the second time this type of flooding had happened recently and that the Village was looking into placing a duct structure to help prevent the overflow.

According to saltwatertides.com, Patchogue's low tide will begin at around 8:19 p.m.
