Police: Homeless Man Arrested For Stealing From House of Worship

On July 22, police apprehended Christopher Loeb, 31, who is accused of stealing coins from a synagogue in Coram earlier this month.

A homeless man was arrested on Tuesday for stealing from a synagogue in Coram earlier this month, police said. 

On July 7, Christopher Loeb, 31, entered the Chabad House of Coram, located at 87 Mt. Sinai Coram Road, and stole coins, police said. 

The incident was recorded on surveillance and Loeb was recognized and identified by patrol officer Greg Hasemann, who searched for the suspect during his daily patrols, police said.

Loeb was apprehended at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 22. He was interviewed by Sixth Squad detectives and arrested for the burglary. The coins were not recovered, police said. 

Loeb was charged with burglary in the third degree and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
