Man Found Guilty To Murdering Medford Woman
Evans Ganthier, of Port Jefferson Station, was found guilty by a Suffolk County jury of second-degree murder of Rebecca Koster of Medford.

A Port Jefferson Station man was found guilty on Thursday of killing a Medford woman he had met in a bar.
Evans Ganthier, 33, was found guilty of second-degree murder of Rebecca Koster, 24, which carries a possible sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Newsday reports that Ganthier stared briefly at jurors after the verdict was read. Ganthier’s attorney’s theorized that Koster was drunk and tripped over some dumbbells in Ganthier’s garage, which the prosecution scoffed at.
The Dec. 2009 murder was especially gruesome, with Ganthier admitting that after she died he mutilated and set her body on fire.
