Medford Man Guilty of Sex Crimes Against Teens

Miguel Leon portrayed himself as a "spiritual advisor" to victims.

A Medford man was found guilty Friday for sodomizing two teenage boys, ages 14 and 16 at the time of the crime, from December 2008 to July 2009 announced the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

After a three-week trial, the jury found Miguel Leon Jr., 53, guilty of 20 counts of criminal sex act in the second degree, 15 counts of criminal sex act in the third degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Leon claimed to be a spiritualist in the Lucumi Yoruba religion, and told his victims that by performing sex acts with him that they would acquire spiritual energy, power and a higher level of enlightenment said a release from the District Attorney’s office.

Leon’s sentencing will take place on March 1 in Riverhead. Prosecutors will recommend the maximum sentencing of 20 years in prison said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota in the release.
