Medford Woman Pleads Guilty to Fatally Stabbing Boyfriend
Cynthia Dean pleads guilty to first degree manslaughter in November 2011 stabbing.
A Medford woman pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend.
Under a plea deal, a judge promised to sentence Cynthia Dean to 8 years in prison, according to a Newsday report.
Dean, 34, stabbed Melvin Garcia, 48, in the chest during an argument in the couple's Granny Road home on Nov. 6, 2011.

Newsday reported the argument was about a pregnancy Dean had been faking.
Garcia's sister, Sonia Garcia, emailed Patch following Dean's arraignment a day after the stabbing.

"I don't know what went wrong in their relationship, but my brother should not have died in such a horrible manner," she wrote at the time, adding that her brother had 15 children. "It was a senseless death and now his kids will be without a father."
