Victim was noticed by someone fishing at the river Saturday morning.

A 28-year-old man was rescued from the Carmans River in the Shirley area Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.

According to police, a 911 call was received from person fishing on a bridge near Montauk Highway who observed a man under the bridge in the river wearing jeans and a t-shirt around 10:51 a.m.

Seventh precinct officers Steven Hughes, Mark Kipybida and two people not identified in the police's release that offered assistance used a job boat to pull the man out of the water.

The man pulled from the river was apparently suicidal, and transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of hypothermia and evaluation.
