Patchogue Man Charged For Bringing Knives To JFK (Report)

Man is due in court on Dec. 23, report said.

A Patchogue man was reportedly arrested Saturday at the John F. Kennedy International Airport after a trench knife and other blades were discovered in his carry-on bag.

According to the Port Authority police in an Associated Press report, Timothy Schiavo Jr., 29, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. According to the report, police said Schiavo had several scissors, lighters and matches.

Schiavo was traveling to North Carolina at the time of his arrest to move away from Patchogue and start a new life as a school janitor, said his stepfather Robert Prybyzerski in a Newsday report.

Both Prybyzerski and Schiavo’s mother, Josephine Prybyzerski, said that they were surprised by the arrest and his stepfather said that “He’s not any kind of a problem kid,” in the report.

Schiavo was given a desk appearance ticket for the criminal possession counts and released. He is reported as being due in court on Dec. 23.
