Patchogue Man To Serve Nine Years In Prison For Child Porn

Man reportedly downloaded thousands of images, hundreds of videos according to court documents in a Newsday report.

A Patchogue man was sentenced in Orlando, Florida recently to more than 9 years in federal prison for child pornography charges, reports Newsday.

According to the report, Andrew Beasley, 30, was sentenced on May 30 for two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography by U.S. District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell of the Middle District of Florida. Beasley will be required to register as a sex offender and serve a 10-year term of supervision.

Beasley reportedly downloaded more than 6,400 images and 265 videos of children being sexually abused and exploited from a peer-to-peer directory, according to law enforcement officers that investigated Beasley’s computers and hard drives.

Newsday reported that Beasley’s mother, Susan Beasley, 62 of Patchogue, wants to appeal the decision stating that her son had been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a disorder associated with autism, and has the mentality of a 15-year-old.

Beasley had been temporarily residing at a Florida address in March 2012, which according to court documents cited by Newsday was where an IP address from which the images were downloaded were traced to. A Florida warrant was issued for Beasley’s arrest in September 2012, and he was subsequently arrested outside of his mother’s Patchogue home.

According to the report, Beasley pleaded guilty on Jan. 29 and was ordered for forfeit his computer equipment.
