Pharmacy Employee Tackles Thief

Stolen drugs recovered after struggle on Montauk Highway.

A masked man who stole drugs from Lighthouse Pharmacy in East Patchogue, was arrested by Suffolk County police on Monday after being tackled by a pharmacy employee.

Adam Davis, 26 of Ridge, robbed the store of oxycontin pills with an imitation pistol at around 10:00 a.m. Monday, according to the police. Davis fled westbound on Montauk Highway before being tackled by a pharmacy employee, who fought with Davis until police officers arrested him. The police recovered the pills and the fake pistol from the man.

A representative from Lighthouse Pharmacy declined to comment.

Davis was charged with robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a forged object in the first degree for possessing counterfeit bills, and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Davis is being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and will be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
