Police: Helicopter Used To Investigate Reported Body Near Patchogue LIRR

Police, ambulance and MTA responded to call, but incident was unfounded, SCPD said.

A helicopter was used as part of a Friday afternoon investigation involving a body reported on the Long Island Rail Road tracks one mile east of the Patchogue LIRR station, which Suffolk County police told Patch turned out to be unfounded.

According to police, the Long Island Rail Road made a 911 call at 4:37 p.m. reporting the possible body. Suffolk County Police including aviation, Patchogue Ambulance and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority all responded to the ultimately unfounded incident.

A Patch reader sent in a video of the helicopter during the timeframe, which is in the media gallery. Did you see this investigation when it was ongoing? Talk about it in the comments below.
