Victim was not wearing helmet, says police.

A Coram man was seriously injured after crashing a motorcycle into a tree in Medford Sunday evening, Suffolk County Police said.

Police say Michael Bray, 21, was traveling southbound on a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle on Bellport Avenue, 300 feet south of Country Road, when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree at 6:05 p.m.

Bray was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said. Bray was then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.

Police say the motorcycle was not registered and was impounded.
