After allegedly being left home alone by his father, police say a four-year-old boy was seen attempting to cross Seymour Lane in Medford by himself.
According to police, Leonard Diveglio saw the child Thursday at around 12:35 p.m., stopped the boy and attempted to find out where he lives. While the boy did not speak English, Diveglio saw a door open at a nearby residence and found no one at home. Diveglio then called 911 around 1:30 p.m.
Police investigated the home and determined Daniel (last name purposefully omitted by Patch to prevent identifying the child) was the father. When Daniel, 37, returned home police say that he told the officer he had to get his car inspected.
Daniel was then arrested at 2:10 p.m. and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The child was not harmed, child protective services were called and he was left with his mother at the same residence.
Daniel is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip Friday.
Police say investigation is continuing.
