Police: Patchogue Man Struck, Killed in Farmingville Crash

Gerald Pender, 60, dies after accident Monday evening, police say.

A Patchogue man was struck and killed by a car in Farmingville Monday evening, police said. 

Gerald Pender, 60, was walking eastbound across North Ocean Avenue at Expressway Drive North when he was hit by a 2000 Honda Civic around 6:30 p.m., police said.

The Civic, driven by 29-year-old Sean Dwyer, of Patchogue, was headed southbound on North Ocean at the time of the crash, police said.

Pender was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Dwyer, who is not charged with any crime, was not injured.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
