Public be aware: parking is the big issue today at the Board meeting. The village hired a while ago traffic and parking professionals to come up with solutions to the pressing parking problem in the village. One solution may be metered parking. I believe that today there will be some preliminary assessments about what a metered parking plan for the village would look like. That should be some very interesting information. As well, on the agenda, approval of union contracts for the village work force. The details of those contracts not really explained on the agenda so again this will be important information that should be further explained at today's meeting which is occuring earlier today than usual please note: 5 p.m. not 7:30 the usual starting time.

When will Patchogue Village Officials realize that the expense of Traffic engineering studies should be borne by applicants for major projects,to hear our Mayor state that no one can predict what traffic problems will be created untill after they open is ridiculous. A few examples The Emporium, Artspace on Terry St. Lombardi's on the Bay, those projects should have been required to perform there own traffic Engineering studies before appearing at any hearing. Certainly projects that come before Brookhaven Town Appear with their own traffic Engineers at the expense of the applicant, not the tax payer. As far as parking meters Patchogue was content with ripping them out years ago so that merchants could park their car in front of their store. When will they wake up and take an example from Babylon Village,or Port Jefferson. Every day they study it is money lost. What we really need is a few more one way streets Ha -Ha !!!!!!!

John, I thought we have plenty of parking in the village as per the bid parking report? So why do we need parking meters? Patchogue 2012 told us there is enough parking in the village for us and the Tritec project. What has change? Looks like a money grab to me. http://www.patchoguebid.com/images/2012-jan-parking-study.pdf
