Swezey's Demolition Moved Up To Sept. 11

Date changed from Sept. 12, building will be demolished Tuesday at 6:30 a.m, says Mayor.

The demolition date of the vacant Swezey's Department Store at the Four Corners intersection of Main Street and North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue Village has been moved up by one day to Sept. 11 from its , announced Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri in an email.

"Because of reasons beyond the control of the Village and Tritec the final demolition of the Swezey Building on the Four Corners has been changed to Tuesday September 11th at 6:30 in the morning…Sorry for any inconvenience," Pontieri wrote.

As previously reported, demolition on the store  earlier this summer to make way for Tritec Real Estate company's  plan to bring 291 apartments, 46,000 square feet of retail space and 18,000 square feet of office space at the intersection.

Currently the side of the building facing Main Street is still standing, but as announced not for much longer.
