Independent Candidate For Mayor Enters Race

I would like to express my graditude to the people of the Village of Patchogue for all their support and assistance on securing a position on the ballot for the upcoming March 20th election.

Dear residents of Patchogue:

I would like to express my graditude to the people of the Village of Patchogue for all their support and assistance on securing a position on the ballot for the upcoming March 20th election.

I was humbled by the hospitality of the residents that opened their homes to us and shared their concerns and views of the present state of our community and their hopes of the future of the village.

Furthermore, I would like to thank all the volunteers that tirelessly worked and continue to work each day so that we can give the residents an Independent anti-establishment choice for Mayor.

I am not part of the establishment that has held office in the Village government for years and years, only to switch seats and titles.

I will stand, speak and fight for the residents of Patchogue that are sick and tired of the lies, fraud, and crony capitalism of a government that no longer represents us. I will be a choice for economic freedom, civil liberties and a small efficient government that will be held accountable to its people.

Thank you for your support,

Richard Evans

Independent candidate for Mayor

I could never vote for someone who doesn't know when to put an apostrophe in the word "its", and when not to. If such small, easily corrected mistakes are happening now, what can we look forward to? FAIL.

Patchogue Girl: We grammar-check all of the blogs, sorry that that slipped through. Updated.

Congratulations bro! I heard you rent at Art Space. What kind of art do you do?
Kim Martino February 24, 2012 at 03:28 AM
How old are you and what kind of experience do you have? What do you think about Tritec and the 291 apartments Pontieri wants to put on the 4 corners?
John Bogack February 24, 2012 at 01:30 PM
I agree with Mark. Mr. Evans it would be good if you did provide some more back ground just as Mark Fauci asks about your back ground. I have been regularly attending meetings of the Village Board for the last three years. I frankly do not recall a single speech you have ever made during the public portion regarding any issue in the village of Patchogue. And I can't think of any other forum where you have expressed a view. But perhaps I just missed those comments. So I am and I suspect others are very uninformed about your views. Except for one. On your facebook page you refer to a "crime wave" in Patchogue Village. I haven't seen one myself but if you have some facts about such a claim that would be importantat to know about. Thanks.
Karen Ferb February 24, 2012 at 01:40 PM
It must also be pointed out that Patchogue Village does not have control over the Patchogue-Medford schools. Crime is under the jurisdiction of the Suffolk County Police since the village does not have a police department. Like John, I have not seen the "rampant crime" you reference on your Facebook page.
jimmy murphy February 24, 2012 at 02:04 PM
And to add to Mark's questions, what is your position on all the Patchogue issues? I read your fb page and you seem to be addressing National issues not Village issues. Is this some sort of Poli Sci school project or something? Do you really live in that Art building? Do you plan to plant roots here in Patchogue?
Joe February 24, 2012 at 02:42 PM
John, I don't think your comment is entirely fair. Frankly, I don't recall you having concerns about a single speech ever made at a board meeting by the other new candidates, or any other forum where they could have expressed their veiws before they decided to run. Liz being the exception. Where were they, all this time?
Ann Salvatore February 24, 2012 at 03:11 PM
Mrs. Ferb, I hope you are in a more agreeable form this morning. Your comments last night to me on the Residents First facebook page were offensive to say the least. I hope your husband as trustee candidate would not approve of treating Village residents in such a condescending manner. I am new to Patchogue Village and love the house I am renting. I plan to stay here for the rest of my life. There are plenty of beautiful homes to rent or purchase here in Patchogue Village for much less than Tritec is asking on the 4 corners. I agree with most residents I talk to that 291 apartments are way too dense for that property. I hope that you will learn to treat residents like myself in a more respectful way in the future, especially if your husband becomes an elected official. Thank you and have a nice weekend. Ann Salvatore

To Ms. Salvatore: Please accept my apology. I had no idea that you had moved to Patchogue Village.
Ann Salvatore February 24, 2012 at 03:28 PM
Apology accepted. But your comments were uncalled for no matter where you thought I lived.
mary michaels February 25, 2012 at 02:34 AM
Well, I must say! I tried to point out this young candidate's spelling mistakes and got deleted. That's "graditude" for you!
Fed Up Patch February 25, 2012 at 03:14 AM
Dear Ms. Michaels, Perhaps you should be more concerned about Paul Pontieri's math mistakes. They are more critical to the village budget and our taxes.
keith philip February 25, 2012 at 04:19 AM
This young candidate should be praised for caring about Patchogue and our country. It was refreshing to hear him speak at the NU Village forum yesterday, and that there seems to be a new generation of Patchogue politics that will no longer put up with the lies and fraud. Despite the negativity of a few, I do hope that through this Mayoral race... he inspires more people like him to get involved in their community and not let the Village become a revolving door for the corrupt establishment. All too often, when there is a new voice, people use pure demagoguery to diminish it. Supporting ones government when it is wrong is not the duty of a citizen, but the duty of a slave.

If he rents at "Artspace" he likes Government paid "hand outs". What kind of an "Independent" is he ?
The Original Village Idiot February 25, 2012 at 12:56 PM
Is that the best you can do Patchogue girl...
The Original Village Idiot February 25, 2012 at 01:04 PM
mary michaels ...who cares ...stay on topic... everybody makes mistakes
John Bogack February 25, 2012 at 01:07 PM
Joe, you are right. My comments were not entirely fair. There are others running for office who have never spoken out about any issues until their campaign as well. I don't think that a qualification for them, nor for Mr. Evans. I see from at least one account here that Mr. Evans appeared at a public forum and apparently made a positive impression on those present. So he's not an empty suit. It would be nice though if he joined the discussion here and without further prompting addressed Mark Fauci's original question about his qualification for office. And my question too about why he feels that a crime wave is enveloping Patchogue Village.
The Original Village Idiot February 25, 2012 at 06:11 PM
Ps.. Ms. Mcguire please don't give the final vote counting job to Lynn and Dennis that would be just disrepectful to the real people entitiled to do that job.
The Original Village Idiot February 25, 2012 at 06:12 PM
Focus on the truth people ...don't waste your vote. I'm talking to the 1200 to1500 of ya (if it don't rain then maybe 900) that come out and vote in patch vill elections. vote for Ms. Mcguire and get some Nu (pun) direction in this village you would have to be an idot (another pun) to vote for a nobody.. sorry Richard who ever you are...I am sure you mean well but ...butt out! May the swartz be vit you Ms. Mcguire

Agile minds, explore all possibilities. If I understand correctly we live in a country where anyone could be Mayor or President. The voter's need to wade thru the sludge, decide for themselves what platform aligns most closely to their individual feelings on the issues closest to their hearts and vote accordingly. Sometimes objective opinions and views strike a cord. If we rise above our current ways of thinking and discover new insights it can give us wings and a possibly a new direction. I personally feel we need to look at the reality of the economics of the day. Young people today are not living on their own, because the average salary for a young graduate is approximately $46,000 per year unless you are in engineering fields. The average student comes out of school with at least $30k +/- student loan debt, if not more. Commuting costs entering into it is yet another expense to be calculated in. Unless it exsists and I haven't heard about it, it would be nice to see the towns of Suffolk hold a summit, to entertain manufacturers and industry and work with them to develop manufacturing and industrial jobs, we need lower taxes, so no one has to have an illegal apartment in their home. Cannon has built a 987,000 sq ft facility in Melville, creating 2500 jobs. We have the land in Suffolk lets get to it.
Patchogue Snoop February 26, 2012 at 03:27 PM
Dear Laureen, Pontificating? What on earth does this have to do with the Village election and this empty suit who is running? Snoop
Chris Barcelo February 29, 2012 at 02:52 PM
I would like to ask as well what say you on Tritec and the 291 rental units. I believe this is the most important aspect of all the campaigns right now. Residents First is clear in their stand as is Patchogue 2012. Where do you stand? Also please inform as to your background so that we can make an honest assessment as to your ability to fight for and obtain your goals in relation to this after you have identified them. The thing that concerns me most is there is awfully little information and very little time left in this election. Why so last minute? And why so seemingly thrown together? I understand you may want to help but I am just not clear as to how?
Chris Barcelo February 29, 2012 at 02:54 PM
I just realized this was posted Febuary 23rd and there hasn't been one response from the candidate.... I hope this isn't how public forums would be held.
Patchogue Snoop February 29, 2012 at 04:04 PM
Like I said, he is an empty suit .........put in the race to split the vote between the anti Pontieri voting block. I will guarantee we will see vans and busses at the polling place this year....what a shame.
Chris Barcelo February 29, 2012 at 04:29 PM
http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=372621202756310&id=100003367095660 That is what I fear as well though I haven't been so quick to say. I just am worried that the important fight may be lost if people allow themselves to be distracted and cooperation among residents destabilized. Truth is this is a very dire issue facing our local economy and many of these people not only don't realize it, they don't know any better which is worse. I maintain my position that after the surplus of 291 apartments ends it will be devastating for the village.
Tianna Johnsen March 01, 2012 at 01:16 AM
Honey, if you opposed to the 291 APARTMENTS I hear these slick TRITEK dudes are gonna be at ROAST coffee giving free coffee away this SATURDAY AT 9:30 AM. That some cool beans. Girl, I hope their mamas ain’t going to be there cause I’m gonna go give them what for!
