Jorge Molina and Trevor Tighe are two students in the Independent Science Research class that were selected as finalists for the Long Island Youth Summit at Dowling College on March 15th, 2013.

Trevor wrote his scientific research paper on the 'Preservation of Open Space' and Jorge wrote his paper on 'Prescription Drug Abuse in Teens'.

The Summit is designed to engage high school students in an exploration of important current socio-economic and socio-medical issues.

Participation in the Summit was determined competitively and based solely on student project outcomes.

Jorge Molina had the winning scientific paper in the category of Prescription Drug Abuse for all of Long Island schools!
