Two PMHS Students Win Teen Photo Contest

Matt Pierre and Emily Savage win $250 each.

Two Patchogue–Medford High School students were recently named winners in Astoria Federal Savings’ annual Teen Photo Contest.

Matt Pierre’s and Emily Savage’s photographs were chosen out of nearly 900 entries from 60 different high schools in Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester. The 2011 theme was entitled "People and Their Pets." Their photos showed, respectively, a mouse peering out from a girl’s shirtsleeve and a close-up of a teen with a pet snake.

As winners, they both received a $250 cash prize and the teachers received a $100 grant for classroom use.
