Let's face it summer on the east end of Long Island is everything from "Heaven to a Horror show". There are moments when the summer breeze off the ocean paralyzes one, other times it's the traffic. But make no mistake about where else would you want to be than here on a sunny day. If you sail like me it's dreamy as you have the wide open sea. If you like beaches, hello, in every direction there is a beach. And if it's sunsets and sunrises, the ocean and bays with those big Long Island skies creates dramatic sunrises and sunsets every night. Ok so there are some visitors, perhaps a million or so. And some of those visitors can't drive, others are sort of rude and arrogant and most are lost, as in how do you get back to Route 27. If you were born here then you have seen it all over the years. If you were not born here than you realize how special it would have been if you had. So with 40 days to go, make sure you get in your BBQ's, beach days, boat days, bike days, down time days, and summer days. Because sooner than later (40 days) that big exodus west is coming. And maybe the real summer of the east enders, that is September and October, rolls in. Then going to the supermarket, parking in all the villages and having the beaches to yourself comes back. Someo jerk once said, "If you build it, they will come." I add, "If's its special, beautiful, and has the ocean they will come, and most likely many will stay, afterall only a few came by sea from Lynn,Mass in the 1640's.
