Ken'ducky' Derby Held At Swan Lake

Rubber duck relay raises money for community house.

The second annual Ken"ducky" Derby was held Saturday morning, hosted by the Swan Lake Park Civic Association. The Association held the event to raise funds for the maintenance of the community house and grounds in the Swan Lake housing community. While the exact amount of money raised was undisclosed, around 270 ducks, which could be "adopted" for $10 per duck or $75 for a dozen, raced in the event.

Just prior to the race's start time, the rubber ducks were placed in the lake. The current and wind direction aided the ducks in "racing" to the finish line.

Prizes to the first 20 finishers included tickets to the Patchogue Theatre, local restaurant packages and other services donated to the event.
