Photos: 7th Annual River 5K Run

Approximately $16,000 was raised to help a local student with a rare disease.

The 7th Annual River 5k run took place Sunday at .

This year's race helped fundraise for Brian Ilg, a first-grade student, who lives with a genetic disease called Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, said race organizer Dina Underwood in an she posted to Patch.

The race brought in 135 entrants and a check for $16,234 was presented to Ilg and his family at the event.

Tremendous!!! I’m so proud of our River Community coming together and supporting our kids. I can’t believe over 16k was raised…congratulations to all who participated in the race and those who volunteered their time to make it happen. Proud to be part of the River community!
