8th Annual Celebration by the Patchogue-Medford School District

South Ocean Middle School recently hosted a community holiday celebration. Members of the community and volunteers gathered to enjoy a meal together and celebrate the the holiday season.

The event lasted for two hours during which time families enjoyed a free hot gourmet meal donated through many of Patchogue and Medford's local businesses. Children made a variety of craft projects with assistance from members of the Patchogue-Medford High School . Approximately 200 families were expected to attend.

According to current Principal of Saxton Middle School, Manuel Sanzone, the event began eight years ago at South Ocean Middle School as a way to give back to the community. It has since continued to flourish as an annual "get-together" of members of the community, volunteers, and various merchants. One of the Robotics team advisors, Danielle Voje, commented that it was great to be able to give back to the community in this manner.
