Toy drive in the Canaan Lake community was held on Friday.

The Canaan Lake community held a toy drive for children of Suffolk County and a supply drive for soldiers serving overseas on Friday.

"We like to support the troops," said Donna Nolan, president of the Canaan Lake Community Club and founder of the Canaan Kids' Club. "The kids love doing charitable work and being able to help out other kids and other families."

Uniting with the Marines and Toys for Tots foundation, approximately 30 kids from the Canaan Kids' Club, gathered hundreds of toys to be given to local children this holiday season.

Donations of supplies, toiletries and handwritten letters were boxed up by Nicholas Kester of OnSight Support, a small non-profit organization, for the troops still serving around the world.

The donations were sorted and packaged up during their annual holiday party at the Canaan Lake Community Center.
